Retrieve Data Tools

The Retrieve Data tools in BOMcheck provide a number of options so manufacturers can search, view and download data from BOMcheck. BOMcheck provides the option to download this data in various formats to suit your needs. These include:

  • Summary PDF Compliance Report
  • Summary CSV data file
  • Detailed PDF Compliance Report
  • Detailed CSV data file
  • IPC 1752A Class C XML
  • IPC 1752B Class C XML

To download data, go to ‘Retrieve Data’ and select either ‘Summary compliance data’ or a specific regulation in the list. From here you can use the search functions to locate the information you would like to view. You can use partial searches for part numbers, part names, supplier names, or the DUNS number.

Once you have entered the information you want to search for, click ‘Search’ and if the part(s) exist and are visible to your company (based on confidentiality settings), BOMcheck provides a summary of the compliance data for these parts against various regulations, with the addition of being able to filter against exemptions.

Note: You can filter between Electrical and mechanical products and Medical devices. Clicking on the filters at the top of the page will change the compliance status depending on any applicable exemptions. For example, if a declaration uses Cadmium RoHS exemption 8(b) (Cadmium and its compounds electrical contracts), which is no longer valid for Electrical and mechanical products but is still valid for Medical devices, the filter will display compliance= No for electrical products but compliance=Yes for medical devices.

When viewing data in BOMcheck, clicking on the part number will provide an additional list of options to the right. You can view the full declaration details and its history. You can also produce various relevant reports in PDF format such as the associated Packaging Compliance Statement, among others.

If you are happy with the results of your search, you can download the data or send it to yourself via email. Select which file type you would like and click ‘Download’. Alternately you can fill out the email form and click ‘Send Email’.

Note: Large downloads (1000+ parts plus) must be sent via email and cannot be downloaded directly.

Note: If the supplier data you wish to view is not available, you can send a request to your suppliers using the ‘Send request to suppliers tool’ in BOMcheck.

Downloading Declarations

Manual Process

Manufacturers can login to BOMcheck and view declarations data for supplier part numbers by using tools to:

  • Check summary compliance data
  • Check REACH Candidate List data
  • Check RoHS data
  • Check REACH substance restrictions data
  • Check industry substance restrictions
  • Analyse Full Materials Declaration data

Manufacturers can choose to:

  • Look up compliance data for: part numbers beginning with certain alphanumerics; part names containing certain alphanumerics; supplier names containing certain alphanumerics; supplier DUNS numbers starting with certain numbers
  • View all part numbers for a particular supplier

Manufacturers can also check compliance for a Bill of Materials parts list containing supplier part numbers from multiple different suppliers. The parts list must contain the part number in column 1 and can can contain the BOMcheck Supplier Code (DUNS number) in column 2 (this is optional). Do not include header rows, titles, etc. For example, the following parts list will allow the manufacturer to look up the compliance status of part numbers ABC-1234 and DEF-6543 from supplier 123456789, and the status of part numbers MNO-4567 and PQR-6789 from supplier 543219876 and so on.

BOMcheck stores the supplier part numbers exactly as they are provided by supplier, including any dots, dashes, hyphens, slashes etc that the supplier includes in the part number. The manufacturer can search the BOMcheck database by looking for an exact match between their parts list and the supplier part numbers stored on the database, or by looking for a similar match. If the manufacturer selects a similar match, then BOMcheck searches the database looking for a match when all dots, dashes, hyphens, slashes etc are removed from the manufacturer’s parts list and from the supplier part numbers stored on the database. BOMcheck always reports the supplier part numbers exactly as they are provided by the supplier.

If BOMcheck does not find a particular part number from a BOMcheck Supplier Code (DUNS number) then BOMcheck provides the option for the Manufacturer to e-mail a request to the supplier to provide a declaration for the missing part number.

Email when Suppliers Join

The View Suppliers List tool enables you to download an Excel file which provides the BOMcheck Supplier Code (DUNS number) and the contact details for each supplier on BOMcheck. Each part which a supplier declares (or maps, or creates as an assembly part etc) on BOMcheck is uniquely identified by the combination of the BOMcheck Supplier Code (DUNS number) and the part number. This important file tells you the BOMcheck Supplier Code for each Supplier so that you can accurately search for the parts that the supplier has declared on BOMcheck.

You can also use the View Suppliers List tool to receive e-mail notifications when your suppliers join BOMcheck, or when your suppliers update their list of manufacturing customers to inform you that the supplier is already on BOMcheck (for example, if you join BOMcheck as a Manufacturer after the supplier has already joined the system). You can choose to receive e-mail notifications immediately, daily, weekly, or monthly. The e-mail notification includes a supplier list file which contains the suppliers contact details, BOMcheck Supplier Code (DUNS number) and date joined/renewed.

Watchlist Notifications

You can use the Watchlist tool to store a list of part numbers on BOMcheck and receive e-mail notification if:

  • a supplier adds or changes the declaration status for any supplier part number on the list
  • the declaration status changes for any mapped part number or assembly part number on the list.

Your Watchlist file must contain the part number in the first column and should also include the BOMcheck supplier code (DUNS number) in the second column. You can choose to receive e-mail notifications immediately, daily, weekly, or monthly. You can overwrite your Watchlist at any time by uploading a new Watchlist file.

Corporate Statements

BOMcheck enables suppliers to create corporate compliance statement PDFs which are attached to all part numbers that the supplier declares on BOMcheck. You can create corporate compliance statement PDFs for:

  • the packaging you use to supply your parts to your customers
  • emissions from products and packaging during transport of your parts to your customers
  • substances used in manufacturing processes to manufacture your parts
