BOMcheck will be updated to Version 8.5 to include three new SVHCs and updates to other regulated and declarable substance lists detailed below including updates to existing regulatory thresholds. Additionally, this new version of BOMcheck introduces new battery declaration and Critical Raw Materials tools and features to ensure continued alignment with evolving regulations.

New Batteries Declaration Features

BOMcheck's Regulatory Compliance Declaration (RCD) Tool has been enhanced to include batteries as a declaration type. This enables improved tracking of battery-related compliance and supports future data collection requirements, including but not limited to requirements for battery product passports.

1. Unified Toolset: Declare battery part and material compliance using the same - new and improved - unified declaration toolset.
2. Full Batteries Scope: Make declarations for all battery types.
3. Regulatory Coverage: Access BOMcheck’s extensive regulatory content (DSLs), now reassessed to include batteries-specific legislation.
4. Circularity Data Capture: Battery declarations can now include important Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and circularity data.
5. Future-Proof Compliance: Be prepared for upcoming legislation with specific regard to batteries.
6. Search & Export Batteries: Compliance search tools can now retrieve battery declarations directly for assessment and export in industry standard IPC formats for integration with other business systems.

Substance Details

New REACH Candidate List Substances

On 05 November 2025, and 04 February 2026, ECHA updated the REACH Candidate List, increasing the total to 253 substances with the addition of 3 new SVHCs.

Critical Raw Materials (CRMA)

A new Additional Declarable Substance List (DSL) for Critical Raw Materials has been added to BOMcheck.

This supports data collection for 34 substance categories covered under the EU Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA).

The DSL is designed to help companies identify where critical raw materials may be present in their supply chains.

PFAS Update

The IEC PFAS list has been removed from BOMcheck.

The BOMcheck PFAS list provides full regulatory coverage (including all substances previously included on the IEC PFAS list).

All existing declarations made under the IEC PFAS list have been automatically migrated to the BOMcheck PFAS list (no supplier action required).

POPs Stockholm Convention Updates

To align with the Unintentional Trace Contaminant (UTC) limit under EU POPs Regulation (EU) 2025/1930:

• Dechlorane Plus has been updated to: 1,000 mg/kg (1,000 ppm) UTC limit
• POPs declarations in BOMcheck are required based on: “No intentionally added content” + compliance with the trace contaminant limit

Minor Substance Amendments

1. Polychlorinated Terphenyls (PCTs): Declaration threshold updated to align with the REACH restriction entry.
2. Formaldehyde / Formaldehyde releasers: New CAS numbers added under REACH restrictions and the Packaging DSL.
3. Substances of Concern (SoC): Additional CAS numbers added following new CLP classifications.

EU MDR – CMR 1A & 1B Substances

The CMR 1A & 1B substances list in the RCD Tool has been updated to include additional substances from the REACH Candidate List.

As a result:

• Existing CMR 1A & 1B declarations will be set to “Missing” for affected suppliers.
• Suppliers will need to review and resubmit their declarations.

RoHS Exemptions Update – Pack 22 (Implemented Dec 2025)

BOMcheck added new RoHS exemptions across the following categories:

Metal alloys (steel, aluminium, copper)

• 6(a), 6(a)-I, 6(a)-II
• 6(b), 6(b)-I, 6(b)-II, 6(b)-III
• 6(c)

High-temperature solders

• 7(a), 7(a)-I to 7(a)-VII

Glass & ceramic components

• 7(c)-I, 7(c)-II, 7(c)-V, 7(c)-VI

Updating Declarations

Following the release of v8.5, the BOMcheck team will publish a guidance webinar with step-by-step instructions on how to update Regulatory Compliance Declarations (RCDs).
