Managing Substance Compliance
BOMcheck helps companies keep up-to-date with the strictest substance regulations applicable to Articles around the world and provides tools, training, and chemicals guidance to help companies create and share standardized materials declarations which comply with quality and trustworthiness requirements in the IEC EN 63000 standard. This training webinar explains how the BOMcheck regulatory screening assessments save suppliers time and effort for compliance to US TSCA, EU RoHS, EU REACH, EU POPs, California Proposition 65, international batteries regulations, other regulatory requirements, and industry substance restrictions:
- US EPA TSCA: only one substance needs additional declaration in BOMcheck
- EU RoHS2: including Annex III and Annex IV exemption lists
- REACH Candidate List declarable substances: reduce compliance burden by 60%
- REACH Article 67 (Annex XVII) restricted substances: reduce compliance burden by 67%
- Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) restricted substances: reduce compliance burden by 65%
- Proposition 65 Substances declarable substances: reduce compliance burden by 96%
- Batteries restricted substances
- Other regulated substances
- Industry restricted and declarable substances
FastTrack SCIP Compliance
We have consolidated our lessons learned from working with some of the world’s largest companies into our Fast Track process to manage SCIP compliance:
- Scope the high spend and high material risk products
- Group products based on similar BOM composition
- Use ERP or purchasing system data to develop Composite BOM of parts used across all model numbers in the product group
- Screen out no-risk / low risk parts to develop Compliance BOM with part numbers and supplier codes for medium risk and high risk parts
- Upload Compliance BOM to BOMcheck, Map the Compliance BOM to all model numbers in the product group and submit SCIP dossiers to SCIP database
- When suppliers update their parts, BOMcheck updates the Compliance BOM and resubmits dossiers to SCIP database for all mapped model numbers
This webinar explains how BOMcheck member companies using this Fast Track process have now submitted over 5 million SCIP dossiers to the SCIP database from every country in Europe and across all industry sectors including automotive, aerospace, medical etc - that’s over 80% of all SCIP dossier submissions across Europe.
Cost-effective SCIP Compliance
On 27 May the BOMcheck blockchain web database became the first solution to implement a fully functional integration to the ECHA SCIP database. On Friday 4 September, ECHA invited BOMcheck to demonstrate our SCIP compliance solution to the ECHA IT User Group and explain how all industry sectors can automatically roll-up and submit SCIP data across their supply chains.
This recorded webinar highlights how Siemens Healthineers, IKEA and hundreds of companies are using the BOMcheck SCIP solution to meet their compliance reporting obligations by the 5 January 2021 deadline.
The webinar demonstrates the dashboard, how to assess your data, how to add other identifiers for consumer products, and how to set your submission frequency. It takes 4 minutes for BOMcheck to upload 100,000 parts to create assemblies, sub-assemblies, etc. and 30 seconds to recalculate compliance and create new SCIP dossiers for these assemblies, sub-assemblies, etc. when any of these 100,000 parts changes.
The webinar explains how the parent company can submit on behalf of all companies in the group, and how to reuse submissions from suppliers. It shows how the blockchain in BOMcheck provides a robust, transparent and auditable history of all component supplier and product manufacturer data provided through the platform. And our solution is 10 – 20 times less expensive than other solutions!
SCIP Compliance Timeline & S2S
This recorded demonstration explains how BOMcheck Version 6.0 captures the additional supplier information which is needed for SCIP database reporting and includes system-to-system integration to the ECHA submission portal. This is more efficient than making submissions manually in the ECHA Cloud, in particular to manage the organisational aspects of
- Multilayer notifications. Many companies supply chains have several layers and it can take many months of preparation time to manage and store data across the supply chain before the company is ready to submit the IUCLID file for their finished product
- The Candidate List is updated every six months and the company will need to update their submission if new Candidate List substances are communicated in their supply chain.
We start by explaining how to create an account on ECHA Cloud for a Legal Entity, and demonstrating how time consuming it is to create a IUCLID data set for an Article (ear pad), so that this Article can be used to create a Complex Object (headphones which include 2 ear pads). We show how to validate the IUCLID data set for the headphones and how to create a IUCLID dossier, and how to login to the ECHA submission portal and to manually submit the IUCLID dossier. Only one dossier can be uploaded and submitted at a time.
We demonstrate how to use BOMcheck to create a Regulatory Compliance Declaration for the ear pad, so that the headphones can be created as an Assembly part and then submitted to the SCIP submission portal directly from BOMcheck. We also demonstrate how BOMcheck updates the Assembly part automatically when the supplier updates their RCD part (for example, when new SVHCs are identified, or existing SVHCs are no longer present in the part), and how the updated Assembly part can be re-submitted to the SCIP submission portal directly from BOMcheck. This is more efficient than managing and updating submissions manually in the ECHA Cloud when suppliers provide updated information for their parts.
EN 50581 RoHS2 Compliance
This webinar explains how British Telecom instructs its contract manufacturers to use BOMcheck to supply RoHS2 Technical Documentation to comply with EN 50581 for the products that they manufacture for British Telecom. Further information about RoHS2 Technical Documentation requirements is published at https://www.bomcheck.net/rohs.
